Tyler- CGC, RS-N, GS-N, JS-N, JS-O, NAC, NJC, NCC, TN-N, TN-O, came to live with us in December of 2005. He and his littermate, Bentley, were returned to the breeder because their owner was having some difficulty managing their behavior and getting them trained to respond in a reliable way on the agility field. These dogs are younger brothers to my dog, Riff. When I heard their home wasn't working out for them, I felt compelled to try to help them out of their situation. Border Collies can be poor choices for pets, and many of them end up unable to keep their original homes because of their drive and desire to have meaningful work. I do not generally recommend the breed for this reason. Bentley has been homed with one of our competitive agility students who is continuing to train and compete successfully with him in agility. I have kept Tyler here and he makes a good companion for Riff and a wonderful addition to playgroups down at the kennel. Tyler earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate in 2006, and has successfully returned to his agility career! He has now earned titles in NADAC and ASCA agility trials and has won THREE Novice High in Trial Awards at ASCA agility trials in 2007 & 2008. Tyler is retired from dog agility now. Tyler was certified in 2011 with the Delta Society as a Pet Therapy dog and he travels with his volunteer handler, Janet McKenzie to regular hospital visits in Rome, Georgia. He loves his work as a Therapy Dog!
